December 21, 2005: I'm a Backpack/Basecamp affiliate!

Sign up today and earn me credits! Mmm, credits.

I’ve just signed up for 37 Signals’ affiliate programs for Backpack (code: BPFXW) and Basecamp (code: travholtnet).

This means that you’ll be helping me economically if you use those links or codes (or the ads in the sidebar) when you sign up for a paid account, or if you try a free plan and later choose to upgrade to a paid account. I won’t make any hard cash from it, but I’ll get credits towards my accounts with them.

If you don’t know anything about neither Backpack nor Basecamp, I’ll describe both of them briefly, and then if it sounds interesting, you should go check out their free accounts!

Backpack

37 Signals call it “an organizational tool”, or a “personal and small business information manager”. But never mind what they call it, here’s what you can do:

And since it’s available online, you’re only an Internet connected computer away from all the stuff you put in there.

Basecamp

37 Signals call it “project collaboration utopia”. I call it a nice way to centralize communication between me and my clients. I haven’t had much use for milestones yet, for example, but just having all communication on different issues in one place (instead of in a mess of badly quoted emails) makes it well worth the price. I haven’t tried it with multiple persons from one company, or with multiple people on my end, but I imagine that must be even better.

If you have access to an FTP server, you and/or your clients can use Basecamp to upload and share files too.
