December 18, 2005: Feedburner timeouts

And it happens way too often.

Some of my RSS feeds use Feedburner, a service that’s supposed to make everything easier and better for providers of feeds, which I’m sure is all fine and dandy, but way too frequently their service times out on me. I’ll try to read something in Shrook, my RSS reader, viewing items as web pages with the builtin browser, and nothing shows up. Then I hit Enter to open it in my default web browser (Firefox, of course), and the status bar will say “Connecting to feeds.feedburner.com …” and then it’ll time out.

It might be a nice service for RSS providers, but what good does that do when it’s this unreliable for the RSS consumers?
